The Tales of Plashetts: A Village Submerged Under Kielder

The speculations that the village of Plashetts was submerged to facilitate the creation of Kielder Water has persisted. I find this incredibly interesting, especially having found the roof tile washed up on the shore near the location where the village once was. ‘Plashetts Rising’

During my ride along the North Shore  of Kielder Water, approximately 6 miles from Kielder Village towards Falstone, I came across an interesting sculpture which didn’t seem to be part of the current Art & Architecture programme and perhaps recently installed. Kielder & the Debatable Lands

Between Tuesday 16th and Friday 19th of October, Atelier 1 took a trip to Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The culturally diverse range of places we visited as a group within the four days was overwhelming as the geographical area for the brief of this year’s project was so vast that I felt a period of reflection was needed.
